Body1 Body2

New York has bene oh-so cold recently and, while it looks like it’s going to start warming up this week – hurrah! – that hasn’t stopped the previous month’s worth of winter chill from wreaking havoc on my arms and legs. Now, this might be a case of TMI right now, but I’m going to confess to y’all that my limbs are so so dry right now. I mean dry. Like the skin equivalent of the Sahara.

And it’s not a problem that I’ve ever really had in the UK. I’m not usually a dry skin person – quite the opposite in face – but recently, it reached the point where it became quite unbearable. Scaly elbows, itchy legs, the works.

So, in an attempt to tackle all of these winter skin-related nasties, I turned my focus to two reliable budget products that have always seen me through any bad dry patches in the past. Enter the Caress Evenly Gorgeous Burnt Brown Sugar and Karite Butter Exfoliating Body Wash (phew what a name!) and the Jergens Original Scent Dry Skin Moisturizer

Both of these products are around under $10 – and they’re both enormous because, well, America – and both work absolute wonders on my skin whenever I come up against a problem. Plus, they both smell so so good. Like unbelievably good.

Unsurprisingly, the body lotion is the first product that I use; it has a really rich and nourishing formula which contains small exfoliating beads in it, which really gently smooth your skin as you rub it in. But unlike a lot of other exfoliators, there is nothing gritty or harsh about this product, which is great given that the chilly weather has made my arms and legs feel so sensitive. And as the name suggest, it has the most warm and sweet sugary smell which makes it even lovelier to use.

After my shower, once I’ve done my drying thing, I slather on a good layer of the body lotion, which by the way smells deliciously like bakewell tarts. Just FYI. And what I love about this formula is that it manages to be super nourishing and soothing on the skin, getting rid of most dry patches after just one use, and yet it still has a nice lightweight feeling to it. In other words, you don’t have to stand around for hours on end waiting for it to sink in and absorb – all it takes is around 30 seconds and then  you are ready to doll.

So, there you have it, to budget beauty products that will help to smooth and soften your skin and leave you smelling sweet – and all for a bargain price to boot!
