There are times when I feel stressed or anxious and all I want to do is light a few candles, sink into a bath and soak in all those sweet scents while relaxing and forgetting about all the frantic, manic stuff going on outside. But while I try to find the time to indulge in these relaxation sessions as frequently as possible, more often than not, I just can’t find enough minutes in the day.
But rather than go without altogether, I’ve found a trio of beauty products hidden within my arsenal that seem to have a similar calming effect on me. Whenever I’m feeling panicked and manic, all I have to do is put these three bad boys into action, and I immediately feel so much calmer. So, I thought I’d share these soothing secret weapons with y’all, just in case you’re suffering from a similar predicament – and feel in need of a quick beauty fix to help see you through whatever stressful episode you’re facing.
The first product on the list is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. I’ve spoken about this fine facial mist on numerous, but for those of you who aren’t familiar with it, this is essentially like a calming, redness-reducing spray toner-type product which has the most blissfully-soothing effect on the skin. But beyond working wonders on my complexion, the formula can be incredibly calming on the nerves too, thanks – no doubt – to its rich, herby fragrance, which immediately makes me feel like I’m lying in a secluded spa somewhere enjoying a facial. Aaaaaaah.
Then we move on to the Kita Wood Moisturising Serum Complex (c/o). As far as I know, this isn’t a product that I’ve spoken about at great length in the past – bizarre really, given that it’s one of my most-used skincare items these days. But, to explain a bit more about it, this serum-turned-moisturiser promises to provide all of the goodness and nourishment that you would get from using the final three steps of your normal skincare routine – serum, moisturiser and oil. And while I don’t know if I can back up those claims entirely – although I do find the formula to be incredibly nourishing – there’s something about its slightly earthy smell and smooth, lightweight application that immediately help to make me feel more at ease, particularly when I use it just before heading off to bed.
Last up is a body lotion – The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Body Lotion (c/o), which has been a firm favourite among my beauty staples since I snagged my first sample-sized bottle of the stuff in my Body Shop advent calendar at Christmas. Not only does it help to leave skin looking and feeling super smooth and soft, but it also smells incredible. It has this amazingly sweet, yet subtle, nutty fragrance, which lingers on the skin for hours after I’ve finished using it, and which is often the last thing I remember catching a whiff of before I head off to bed.
So, there you have it – the beauty products that make you want to stop and breathe it all in. Aaaaaaaah.
