If you’ve been reading my blog for a wee while now, you will likely be aware of the fact that I am just awful when it comes to packing. No matter how long I am going away for – one night, three nights, a week, maybe even two – I always overpack. I don’t know quite what it is exactly which makes me feel the need to cart around all of my worldly possessions from a to b, but it’s been a bad habit that I’ve been trying to break for years, particularly when it comes to my beauty supplies.
But in recent weeks, I’ve spent quite a few weekends away and, having not brought a proper weekend bag with my to New York, I’ve been relying on my trusty Herschel Backpack which, although ace, is really rather small when it comes to my impressive packing needs. So, I’ve had to cut back on my normal overpacking ritual and opt for nothing but the essentials – a process I think I’ve managed to get down to a fine art.
Thanks to my Paul & Joe Floral Make Up Bag, make up packing is actually fairly easy. There’s a section for my brushes – just four of them, for foundation, blush/bronzer, face powder and eyeshadow – and then two pouches for all of my make up. In this case, I tried to keep it down to the basics, with a major focus on the base side of things, packing primer (Maybelline Master Prime Redness Control Primer), foundation (the Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation), concealer (Maybelline Master Conceal Camouflaging Concealer) and powder (Revlon Photo Ready Face Powder).
And when it comes to the colour side of things, I just whack my Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette. Aside from the brilliantly entertaining name – chortle – it pretty much packs in every product you might ever need, from eyeshadow and eyeliner to blusher and bronzer. Plus, the shades are absolutely beautiful – and can be worn for an easy breezy day look, or a smoky, more sultry night look.
All in all, I think that’s a pretty teeny weeny packing list – in comparison with some of my previous ones at least! Here’s to progress…
