After Christmas, I was lucky enough to be left with a few Sephora vouchers burning a wee hole in my wallet. So, I thought what better way than to pay a visit to my nearest store – Union Square in New York, it’s lovely – in order to stock up on a couple of old favourites and a few long-time wish list products.
First things first, I made a beeline for the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation, my current favourite foundation and one which I can’t stand my beauty supply to be without. It provides the perfect amount of coverage – full, without feeling at all heavy or oily – and the shade Light Beige is a pretty perfect match to my own skintone.
To go with it, I treated myself to a new blending brush – one which I have been eyeing up for a long ole time – the Sephora Pro Large Domed Stippling Brush. Now, y’all should know, this brush is big. Really big, particularly given that I plan to use it for foundation application. But it’s also incredibly soft, with tightly-packed bristles that look as though they will offer the most brilliant airbrush-like foundation finish. Keep your eyes peeled for updates…
And it wouldn’t be a real trip to Sephora if I wasn’t sucked in by at least one of the mini-sized samples which are displayed in such a tempting fashion along the path to the till. In this case, I opted for a mini pot of the much-hyped GlamGlow Supermud Mask. Thanks to some Christmas (over) indulgence, my skin is feeling and looking a little less than perfect at the moment, and I’m hoping that a few rounds of this mask will do the trick. Again, I’ll be sure to report back.
Brilliantly, the last few items in my basket weren’t actually purchases at all, but rather delightfully generous samples handed over by the lovely ladies behind the tills. As my birthday is in just a few short weeks (another year older, woe), I was given a ruddy lovely ‘birthday month’ present in the form of two mini NARS Lip Pencils – one matte, one not – and a mini NARS Eyeliner. All of which are just great, as you’d expect from NARS.
And to add even more brilliance into the basket – a sample of the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Treatment, which the lovely Sephora ladies told me is ‘just awesome’ and a few sachets of First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, another long-time favourite.
All in all, it was a seriously successful shopping trip – and I felt like I came away with such a huge number of products, despite not paying a huge amount for what was in my basket. In other words, a bloody brilliant first haul of 2015. Here’s to
many a few more in the future.
