Today I bring you some rather sad news from the beauty world. One of my all-time favourite candles – the Laura Mercier Warm Roasted Chestnuts Signature Candle (£40) – has for some unknown reason been discontinued.
While rumours have been circulating for a while now about where the candle had gone, a spokesperson for Laura Mercier confirmed on Twitter earlier this week that the much-loved limited edition fragrance is no longer available because it has been replaced by a new scent.
They tweeted: ‘We’re so sorry to report it’s no longer available! We hope you’ll give our Golden Honey Musk candle a try.’
Now I know this might not seem like such a big deal (‘it’s just a candle!’ I hear many of you cry) but the truth is, this candle has become a really big part of my Christmas celebrations. Every time I catch a whiff of its warm, spicy, nutty fragrance, I feel a huge surge of festivity and it tends to be all I burn during the holidays.
Luckily, because I’m such a Christmas-loving nerd, I stocked up on a good supply of these limited edition bad boys earlier in the year – not that many other people in the market for a roasted chestnuts candle in July! But, thinking I would be able to pick up a few more at the start of the festive season, when they are usually released, I have been far too cavalier about burning through them and am now left with one. ONE.
So, lovely people at Laura Mercier, please do consider bringing back this most festive of candle delights – it just ain’t Christmas without it. And in the meantime, if any of you know of any similar scents, please give me a holler because I would love to pick one up ASAP!
