As some of you may know, I have some serious issues with blemishes and acne – it’s a problem that I’ve tried to tackle 101 times but have yet to find a real solution that’s stuck. There have been masks, treatments, creams and lotions a plenty but as yet I haven’t really kept anything permanently in my skincare line-up.

However, the introduction of the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (£14.50) and the Mario Badescu Drying Cream (£11.95) to my skincare routine could really change that I think. From what I understand, Mr Badescu is a bit of a whiz when it comes to blemish-prone skin and his skincare selection has a whole host of products aimed at targeting acne and spots, including the two products above.

Personally, I see the above products as a night and day pairing. I use the Drying Cream every morning, post skincare routine and pre-make up primer, while the Drying Lotion I use on any particularly nasty blemishes which I want to try and tackle overnight. The Drying Cream, which is a soothing formula rich in aloe, not only helps to tackle under-the-skin blemishes throughout the day but the white colour of the cream also helps to dull down any redness before I go in with my make up. Ideal when I’m having a nightmare skin morning…

When it comes to the evenings, I dab the Drying Lotion onto each blemish using a cotton bud – sinking it down below the clear liquid in order to reach the pinky Calamine solution and that’s what you apply to the blemish. It dries overnight while helping to soothe any pimples or blemishes and drastically reduce them in terms of size, swelling and redness. It’s helped me to tackle some serious beasts in the past few weeks and I couldn’t be happier with it.

Here’s hoping the blemish-busting skincare search can be called off for now…!
