Bloggers

As much as I love reading blogs, I have no doubt that they cause me to spend a whole heap more money that I would do normally. From recommendations to new launches and everything else in between, my favourite have a real knack for turning any old beauty product from Boots into a must-have, need-it-this-second item.

And it seems I’m not alone; earlier this week, Feel Unique released an infographic which suggested that, when it comes to beauty recommendations, women tend to trust bloggers and other women a lot more than they do celebrities. In other words, the blogger-enabled epidemic is spreading…! And thank goodness because some of my all-time favourite beauty items were actually bought on recommendation from a blogger, or bloggers in some cases, and I couldn’t be happier to have found them.

Take MAC Plumful Lipstick for example. The sole reason that I traipsed into the MAC shop to search for this shade was because I had seen how ruddy ace it looked on Estee AKA Essiebutton who made it sound so perfect, I knew I had to have it. And d’you know what? It’s one of my most-worn lipsticks and I can’t imagine life without its pinky plum tones. Another brilliant lip recommendation came in the form of the Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Glosseswhich Anna AKA VIvianna Does Makeup described in such a delightful way, it took mere minutes for me to hot-foot it to my nearest Boots and pick up a few for myself. Anna’s pal Lily AKA Lily Pebbles is another rather brilliant beauty source and it is because of her that I found and fell in love with the wonderfully budget-friendly NYC Best of Broadway Eyeshadow Palettea £3 wonder that I can’t live without.

Moving on to skincare and the main culprit in this category is none other than Caroline Hirons, skincare guru extraordinaire who recommended that I try the Kate Somerville Oil-Free MoisturiserAnd try – and buy – I did during my recent trip to NYC and boy am I happy I did because this stuff is, as Caroline promised, lovely. As is the Aveeno Smart Essentials Daily Nourishing Moisturiserwhich I picked up after hearing Ingrid AKA Miss Glamorazzi rave about on numerous occasions.

Last but not least we have the Clarins Extra Comfort Anti-Pollution Cleansing Cream which is another product I purchased – and subsequently fell in love with – at the suggestion of Amelia AKA Amelia Liana who said such wonderful things about it, I couldn’t help but be won over, even before I’d tried it out for myself.

What products have you guys picked up based on recommendations? Any brilliant beauty bits you now can’t live without?

  1. I picked up so many products that were recommended by beauty loggers it’s an addiction hehe

  2. Essie kills me with her suggestions. I want everything she likes. She’s literally the only reason I have MAC’s Lady Danger lipstick (even though I adore it). Also, I think your picture for this blog post is really cute 🙂

  3. It’s so true if a blogger says it’s good you kind of have to believe it’s their honest opinion which is better than a celebrity endorsement anyday!
