I’ve been back from my holiday for one week and I’m already peeling. TMI? And to add insult to injury I think my lips have had a reaction to a new product that I’ve been using and have become so cracked and chapped that I’m finding it hard to even speak. TMI again?
Needless to say, emergency moisturising action needed to be taken and I sped my way to Boots to stock up on a whole host of hydrating products. First up, after sun. In my opinion, nothing can help to soothe sun-kissed skin and help to prolong a tan like after sun does. Even the most intensive of moisturisers don’t have the same cooling aloe effect which seems to be the only thing that has a hope of fighting the inevitable peel… Garnier Ambre Solaire Soothing Hydrating After Sun has always been my top pick in this category. It smells superb, soothes skin like no other and really does help to keep dry skin at bay. All I could ever ask for in my after sun.
And for my post-after sun care, I thought I’d give the Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days Softening Nourishing Lotion a whirl. I’ve heard some superb things about this whole range and loved the whole idea of a nourishing formula which still manages to be fast-absorbing (I’m so impatient when it comes to moisturiser). And just like its after sun counter-part, it smells awesome.
Moving on to the lips and this is where really drastic steps had to be taken. I’m not quite sure at the moment what is responsible for the cracking and the chapping – it’s a toss-up between a new mouthwash and a new tinted lip balm – but whatever it was, my lips are in agony and have been in need of some serious soothing. So what better than the Nivea Soothe & Protect SPF 15 Lip Balm, eh? To be honest, I’m not quite sure this is rich enough to sort out my issues entirely but it does have a really lovely nourishing formula, which doesn’t leave me with any tackiness or greasiness on my lips. Same with the Nivea Pure & Natural Milk & Honey Lip Balm which has all the same soothing qualities as its counter-part with the added benefit of a delightfully sweet scent.
During the evenings, when I don’t need to go out in polite society, I bring out the big guns in the form of my beloved Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, a seriously thick and rich formula which I’m hoping will be the final piece in this lip balm puzzle. Here’s hopin’.
