Hello my name is Charlie and I am a beauty shopping addict.
All jokes aside, in addition to all of the amazing things that I did and saw in New York – which will soon be featuring in my first every vlog. Just as soon as I can get my head round the editing! – I spent some serious cash in that city, making not one, not two but three Sephora trips as well as several (hundred) visits to Duane Reade, Walgreens and numerous other non-beauty shops. In other words, I’m now pretty darn broke. But boy do I have some pretty new things to make up for it *grins*
When putting together my mammoth New York wish list, it was other bloggers’ haul videos and posts that I turned to for inspiration so I thought I’d share with y’all some of my favourite purchases – spread across a couple of posts! – in case any of you need any shopping ideas. While these posts will just feature a quick overview of the products, I’ll make sure I include some more in-depth product reviews later down the line. Do let me know if there are any bits in particular you’d like to hear about in more detail!
So, without further ado, my first NYC haul – Sephora.
First up was a Caroline Hirons-inspired purchase in the form of the Kate Somerville Oil Free Moisturiser. Other than the recommendation from Caroline – which provided all the motivation I needed to whip out my card – I’d heard some great things about this nourishing product, with a lot of people singing its praises across the board, particularly when it comest o combination skin. Another product aimed at tackling my complex complexion is the First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser which has already worked wonders at tackling my post-flight/post-weekend of lacrosse and camping blemishes. The last skincare item in this haul is a travel size packet of the Ole Henriksen Nurture Me Make Up Removing Cleansing Cloths. As you may remember from my carry-on post, I took a packet of these on the plane with me and they were just ruddy marvellous so I couldn’t resist picking up another load, particularly as they were pretty much half the price that they are in the UK…!
Moving on to make-up and my first purchase was inspired by Anna from Vivianna Does Make Up who I think picked the same thing up during her own recent Sephora haul. The Make Up Forever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette offers a whole host of corrective concealer shades, ranging from the uber light to brighten under the eyes to the green toned to eliminate redness. The next base item on the list is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation, which has been praised by so many beauty lovers across the board that it was one of the first things I put on my shopping list.
Similarly, the Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Perfume was high on my list of must-haves and as soon as I took a whiff of its beautiful floral notes, it was plonked straight into my basket. It. Smells. Stunning. Full review on that one coming soon.
Last but not least for my first Sephora trip is the Pinch Provisions Minimergency Kit For Her, an amazingly compact pouch full of anything and everything that you may ever need while out and about. You’ve got hairspray, painkillers, a tampon, spare buttons and even a deodorant wipe. In other words, this bad boy is sure to save you from any and all on-the-go emergencies that might come up.
Can’t believe there could be any more? Well make sure you tune in tomorrow for the next instalment…!
