Travelling can be a bit of a nightmare when it comes to your skincare routine – when you use as many products as I do, packing it all just seems silly. Particularly when weight restrictions are so darn strict these days. But I think I’ve managed to whittle down my travel skincare to the bare essentials which allow me to keep up as much of my routine as possible, without bringing along the whole bathroom cupboard.
First up, a few key things to remember:
* Decant everything you can into smaller bottles/pots/tubes. It helps to save you space and reduces the chance of leaks!
* Sample sizes are your best friends. If you have samples of products you know and love, take those instead of the full size product. Chances are it will last you well beyond a week.
* Think what you really need. It might sound like a skincare sin but I think you will probably survive with one eye cream rather than two for a few days.
My preferred products aren’t really that different from the usual but I did throw in a few new bits and pieces to test out while I”m here. Cleanser-wise, I have a sample size of the Dermalogica Pre Cleanse which is simple to use but incredibly effective at removing make up and dirt. I also whacked in a decanted bottle of Bioderma H2O and a new sample of the REN Rose Centifolia Hot Cloth Cleanser (nice and nourishing but not my favourite hot cloth cleanser if I’m honest). Last up, I have a sample of the Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant which is nice but not necessarily gritty enough for my liking…
For toners, I have the Pixi Glow Tonic – a favourite – the Clarins Toning Lotion with Camomile – lovely and gentle – and the Jurlique Balancing Rosewater Mist which is incredibly refreshing and nourishing. Perfect for these hot New York days. I follow these up with the Ole Henriksen Fresh Start Eye Creme, the Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Serum and a decanted pot of the Aveeno Daily Nourishing Moisturiser in the mornings, then the same eye cream, my La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] spot treatment and the REN Omega 3 Optimum Skin Serum Oil in the evenings.
Add a whack of Moroccan Oil in for my hair, the La Roche-Posay Lipakar Baume to treat any sunburn/heat rash and a few flannels for my face and that’s pretty much everything! Nowhere near as bad as usual…! *Smug face*
