I’m heading off on holiday to New York today – *does happy dance* – and thought I would share with your guys all the beauty bits and bobs that I’m taking with me, kicking off with the key items that are coming along in my carry-on. As I’m sure you’ll all very well aware by now, I’m not the most efficient when it comes to packing light, hence the reason my carry-on bag is so stuffed. I’ve got my laptop for blog editing while on the plane, my iPad in case I get bored of blog editing and want to read, headphones, iPhone, sunglasses, keys and – most importantly – my beauty bits and pieces.
While holidays themselves are just the best, the flying to and from your chosen holiday destination can be a bit of a biatch and the whole process tends to wreak havoc on my skin. We’re talking blemishes on top of dry patches alongside oiliness. It’s a helluva mess. Luckily, I think I’ve finally worked my way to an in-flight skincare routine that takes care of the worst symptoms of flying face.
First up comes the make-up removal and for this I indulge in one of my more recent favourites, the Ole Henriksen Truth To Go Face Wipes which completely clears the skin of any make-up, without stripping the skin of moisture. If my blemishes are already proving a problem, I whip out an exfoliating toner pad (Cane & Austin Acne Treatment Pads) and follow that up with a hefty dose of moisturiser courtesy of the Weleda Skin Food. This bad boy is so thick and nourishing it will leave you looking seriously shiny but really well-hydrated. And really, who cares what you look like mid-flight?! Throw in the added benefits of the REN Keep Young and Beautiful Anti-Ageing Eye Cream – nourishing goodness – and the eos Summer Fruit Lip Balm – easy to find in amongst all this stuff and smells beautiful – and I’m ready to roll.
Additional skincare bits include the This Works Sleep Balm for relaxation, the Caudalie Beauty Elixir for a refreshing pick-me-up and the Body Shop Almond Cuticle Oil to keep my nails nice and moisturised.
And if I fancy giving my face a once-over before I get off the plane, I have a few make-up bits and bobs to help make me look a bit more human. The Benefit PoreFessional helps to smooth and soothe the skin, while the Garnier Miracle Skin Cream adds a fair bit of coverage and helps to keep skin hydrated. Any other necessary coverage comes courtesy of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, which will help to hide any in-flight face issues. Add to that a brush of my Glossybox Blusher, a slick of my Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop and a swipe of the Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara and I’m pretty much ready to face the world. Just about…
