Summer is here – ish if you’re living in the UK – and with it an urge to achieve that healthy, happy glow in my skin that seems to only appear naturally when I’ve had the opportunity to soak up a healthy amount of Vitamin D. But as the sun has decided to vanish behind a bleak layer of clouds and rain, I’ve whipped out a pretty impressive glow give line-up in its place. Take that clouds.
First up, the base layers. Best used, in my opinion, pre-make up to give your skin an all-over healthy glow that radiates through your foundation, I actually find they work best when mixed in with a smoothing primer. At least that’s how I like it. The cheapest of these three, and also the least all-out glowy, is the Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer. Incredibly subtle, yet truly effective, it helps to perk up the complexion, while also ensuring your make up hangs around throughout the day. The Studio 10 Youth Lift Glow-Plexion and the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector on the other hand, are pure radiance in a bottle. If you’re looking to give skin a lift, this is what you want. Used on their own or mixed in with a primer, you can’t get glowy-er than this pair.
Moving on through the make up routine and there are a few cheek-y products that I also tend to turn to when in need of a radiance boost. In lieu of sunshine, the Topshop Illuminator in Reflect adds a bronzed glow to the skin, as well as a hint of subtle shimmer which really brightens the complexion. The Sleek Make-Up Blush in Rose Gold is very similar in terms of its glow-giving potential, while adding a beautiful rosy colour to the cheeks. Last up is one of my favourite ever highlighters – as you may be able to tell from the big ole dip right there in the middle – Soap & Glory Glow All Out. As well as being incredibly budget-friendly, this highlighter is incredibly subtle but gives such a beautiful glow to your face. It could make even the palest of pasty faces (guilty) look healthy and happy.
Sun or no sun, that glow will be mine…
