Hands up who else has a problem with oily eyelids? Just me?! It’s not really an issue that I was aware of until quite recently – I always put my crease-y eyeshadow down to my poor application – but then I received a sample of the NARS Eyeshadow Primer and my world was well and truly turned on its head. Eyeshadow lasted all day long, creases were a thing of the past and the application, oh the application, of all eyeshadows was an actual delight.

The NARS primer is, however, a bit on the expensive side and post-tester I’ve been on the hunt for something that offers the same superb results but for a fraction of the price. Bizarrely, it seems that eyeshadow primers are quite limited to the higher end beauty brands. I couldn’t find any alternative options in the aisles of Boots or Superdrug and my internet research left me with very few options. Then I stumbled across this recommendation from Amelia Liana who found a pretty perfect offering from L’Oreal in the US.

The L’Oreal Magic De-Crease Eyelid Primer is pretty much an exact dupe for the Urban Decay Primer PotionIt is a nude eyeshadow primer that works wonders on your eyelids pre-eyeshadow. It smooths your skin, decreases redness, hides any vein-y bits (urgh) and provides the perfect base for your shadow, which it helps to keep in place. All. Day. Not a single crease in sight. I’ve even been using it under my eyes as a primer for my concealer and it’s seriously helped to beat the creases with that as well. An all-round winner.

At the moment the only drawback that I can see is the fact that it’s currently only available in the US. A dream for any stateside beauty fans but sadly for those of us in the UK, it’s time to start begging our American pals to slip one into a beauty-themed care package. Any offers?

  1. Interesting, with the warmer weather I’m noticing my trusty Elf primer is just not living up to my expectations. I was planning on looking for another drugstore alternative amd this sounds great! Just a major pity I can’t get it here.
