As you may remember from this post, one of the major perks of working where I do is the twice-yearly work beauty sales. Full to the brim of every beauty product imaginable – well, those that haven’t already been snapped up by eager beauty fans – I see it as the perfect opportunity to pick up some products that I’ve been wanting to try for a while but haven’t had the chance to invest in yet. Particularly those high end items that tend to cost more – snapping those up for a low bargain price makes me all the more enthusiastic about trying ’em out.
This time around, the focus of my beauty haul was almost all on the face (unintentionally I might add!) – lips, cheeks and eyes were all covered with a few added extras thrown in for good measure. The biggest batch of the lot was most definitely the lip gloss haul. I practically leapt on the Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupte, which I picked up in four colours – Fuschia Vermeil (a beautiful deep pink with gold shimmer), Rose Orfevre (a pale pink with a hint of shimmer), Rose Jersey (a shimmer free rosy pink) and – the most interesting of them all – Smoking (a sheer black) which is I’m told is pretty spectacular-looking when layered over other lipsticks and shades. Watch this space.
Next up came the Michael Kors Glam Lip Luster in Icon (a deep burgundy) and the Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lip Gloss in Liar (yet another pretty pink). While dabbling in that brand, I also picked up an Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet. It allows for such silky smooth application and hangs around for hours.
Moving on to something a bit more cheeky, we have the ultra-cute Clinique Cheek Pops – pretty and bright blushers – in a variety of pinky shades. I’ve been dying to try these for ages and was so excited to see ’em sitting there in amongst all the other beauty bits. I’ve given them a quick couple of tests and I’m happy to report, they’re as beautiful in formula as they are in appearance. A real winner. Same with the BECCA Beach Tint in Papaya, a waterproof lip and cheek stain that is the most beautiful shade of poppy red. The formula is really easy to work with – amazingly blendable – and I’m excited to test out the waterproof claim in full.
Having fallen in love with my recent Deborah Lippmann purchase, I had to snap up the Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish in Break 4 Love. This limited edition shade is, in my opinion, the perfect pink and I’m hoping it will look pretty ace with a tan. If I ever manage to get one that is. Then last up, a couple of new releases from The Body Shop. I’d heard ruddy ace things about both The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet – a fairly new moisturiser launch which looks absolutely lovely – and The Body Shop Honey & Oat 3-in-1 Scrub Mask – yes I know, like I needed yet another mask, but y’all have to admit this one looks lovely.
No doubt detailed reviews of all of the above will be on their way soon so keep an eye out…
