As I’m sure y’all know by now, I have something of an obsession with neutral eyeshadow palettes. Urban Decay, MAC, Tarte, Laura Mercier, Wet n Wild, NARS… The list goes on. And as I’m sure you can imagine, my obsession has cost me quite a few pretty pennies over the past few years. Luckily – thanks in large part to Lily from Lily Pebbles and Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup – I’ve found a new drugstore eyeshadow palette that curbs my neutral cravings for a teeny tiny fraction of the price. Hurrah.

So, without further ado, please say hello to the NYC Individualeyes Custom Compactsa collection of four-shade palettes that cost a meagre £3.99 a piece and offer a variety of beautiful shades. Having seen the Best of Broadway foursome recommended by Lily as a seriously superb budget eyeshadow offering, I knew I had to have it and what do you know, the palettes have now been made all the more exciting thanks to the addition of a cream primer and a cream highlighter – just to add a bit more magic into the mix.

But are they, are here you asking, any good? Well, for the bargain price of £3.99, I say oh yes. Pigmentation-wise, these shadows are pretty ruddy ace and they don’t have the same chalky consistency that you get with a lot of cheaper eyeshadows either. The colour range is great – there’s a colour for highlighting, shading in the crease and lining in each palette. Plus they seem to last a fair few hours – at least four or five – without any signs of creasing or fall-out. A pretty impressive boast from such a budget-friendly brand. When it comes to the primer and highlighter, the formulas aren’t the most impressive – I find them a bit drying if I’m honest – but if you only need them for a short amount of wear-time, they’ll serve you well too.

All it all, I’m pretty bowled over by NYC as a brand and I can’t wait to branch out and try some other products. Next up, lip crayons…
