I like to think that I’ve built up a pretty impressive beauty collection over the past few years – and I’m pretty positive that I have an item to cover any and all beauty needs that you might have. There are times however when I just can’t be bothered with the faff of using product after product, but rather want something that will cover as many uses as possible. Also known as the multi-talented multi-taskers.
Used most often when I’m travelling – limited suitcase space means limited beauty supplies – they fill numerous needs, offering an array of uses. The champion of these products is – perhaps surprisingly – also the most unassuming. Vaseline Lip Therapy may look like an ordinary old lip tin but when it comes to multi-use beauty, this bad boy boasts some seriously impressive credentials. Whack it on the lips for a slick of protective moisture, put a bit on the end of your finger and work through your eyelashes for added volume and weight, pop a pinch on your cheekbones to highlight or you can even use a bit on y our brows to keep ’em in check. As you can see, there’s no shortage of uses here.
Next up, the highlighter-turned-eyeshadow-turned-highlighter products. My preferred eyeshadow options in this instance are the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Champagne and the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Iced Latte. Both have a really nice smooth formula, aren’t overly shiny or glittery and don’t leave you with bits of shimmer halfway down your cheek. Likewise the MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Superb is a great multi-use formula thanks to its smooth, blendable texture and long-lasting wear power. Originally intended as a glow-creating highlighter for your face, it doubles up as an amazing eyeshadow option when you find yourself short and can even be applied using your fingers.
The Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips gives away at least one or two of its multi-purpose uses in its name. Yes, it was originally created as a nipple balm for nursing mothers and yes, we now use that same nourishing power on our lips. Two birds, one stone, simples. But far from those being its only uses, this wonder-product also serves as a moisturising balm – for the extra dry bits – cuticle ointment and even as a highlighter, although the formula may be a bit too thick for some people’s liking.
Last up, the Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in Enticing. As well as layering up lips with one heck of a glossy colour, this lacquer balm can also be used to add a bit of colour to the cheeks. Swipe a small bit of colour onto the apples and blend with your finger. Easy peasy and the balmy texture means it blends into skin with serious ease leaving a beautiful sheeny glow in the process.
What multi-purpose products can you guys not live without?
