I’m not the biggest fan of baths. I’ve never really seen the appeal of them to be honest and, no matter how many people have told me how relaxing and enjoyable they are, I’ve always struggled to get my head around them.
But during a recent trip to Lush, I couldn’t help but be won over by the endless supply of sweetly-smelling bath bombs and bubble bars and decided that the time had come to give baths another go. While I’m still not sure I would count myself as a ‘bath person’, I’ve finally worked out my perfect bathtime routine.
First up, candles. You cannot – in my opinion – have a relaxing bath without a little candle action on the side. I’m currently enjoying the Bvlgari ‘Eau Parfumée au thé blanc’ Candle and the Bath and Body Works Cinnamon Doughnut Candle but really any scented candles will do.
Moving on to the bath itself, my favourite Lush purchase has no doubt been the Lush Golden Egg which fills my bath with beautifully nourishing oils while scenting it with the most amazing honeyed orange fragrance. Incredible. If I’m in the mood for bubbles, a few drops of the multi-purpose wonder that is Dr Bronner’s Organic Rose Liquid Soap works an absolute treat and makes the whole bathroom smell like fresh roses.
To my mind the bath is the perfect place to indulge in a bit of pampering skin and haircare. I’ll slap on a face mask – or two – and comb through a hair mask before settling down to relax with some music or catch up on my favourite YouTube videos. Bad skin days call for the Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Mask but if my skin is going through a good patch, I’ll give the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Oatmeal Mask a whirl. For my hair, my currently favourite is the L’Oreal Ever Riche Mask which leaves my tresses feeling super silky and smooth.
Aaaaaaand then, relax…
