I have to admit, I’m pretty proud of my expanding handbag collection. Having spent years working my way through an endless supply of high street bags that inevitably fell apart after a couple of years’ use, I’ve begun investing in a few (like two) high end handbags that I hope will serve me for many years to come. One of those such purchases is the Michael Kors Jetset Crossbody Bag, an incredibly simple black evening bag that is the perfect size to carry round the endless number of unnecessary items I like to take with me on a night out.
Make up-wise, I tend to over-pack a little bit – I’m always afraid of suffering some kind of unforeseen beauty-related disaster – but no matter what the occasion I always ensure I have a few must-have staples. Tool-wise, we have the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush – perfect for blending out foundation or concealer and giving your face a refresh – and the Real Techniques Retractable Bronzer Brush – ideal for applying powder on the go. Base-wise, it’s a Bourjois-centric combination – the Bourjois Java Rice Powder, totally translucent and gives skin an evened-out radiance, and the Bourjois Happy Light Concealer which you can apply quickly and easily with your finger to conceal any manner of blemish, redness or eyebag.
Moving onto the eyes we have the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencil which can be used either to shade the lids, or as a gentle liner, the MAC Eye Kohl in Costa Riche which is the perfect brown shade, and the Kevyn Aucoin Essential Mascara which, although reliable, isn’t the best mascara in the world but comes in an incredibly convenient handbag-sized tube. Last but not least, I usually throw in at least one lip balm – the Soap & Glory Great Kisser – and a lipstick – MAC Brick-o-la – a perfume – Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey in a handy tester size – and a mirror – a super handy double-sided mirror from Victoria’s Secret.
Add to that my keys – held together by my beloved Diet Coke keyring – my phone – along with my Springtime Claire’s case – and my cards and I’m ready to head out. Let’s party.
