Up until very recently the one make up item you wouldn’t have found within my extensive stash was lip gloss. I couldn’t stand the stuff. To me, lip gloss meant a sticky, tacky finish, hair stuck to your lips and sickly sweet scents. As you may be able to see from the above photos, I’ve made something of a u-turn when it comes to lip gloss and – thanks to the discovery of some marvellous formulas – I have to admit it is now one of my most-bought make up items.
Gone are the horribly sticky formulas and in their place we have some truly stellar products that have quickly become my favourite go-to lippy. There are now so many amazing options out there – from budget to high end – with shade selections to suit every preference.
Currently topping my favourites list are the Laura Mercier Lip Glacé – a high-shine tinted lip gloss that leaves lips with the perfect amount of tint and sheen without the tiniest trace of stickiness – the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre – another expensive option but one that is well worth the money in my opinion thanks to its beautifully shiny finish and long-lasting sheen – and the Tanya Burr x Eye Candy Lip Gloss – a more budget-friendly option that leaves lips with a beautiful hint of colour and a lovely gloss, although they’re not quite as long-lasting as the pricier versions.
Next up on my gloss wishlist are the Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss – a recommendation from Anna aka Vivianna Does Makeup – and the Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lip Gloss – a formula that I’ve heard nothing but brilliant things about. Now I just need to find somewhere else to keep them all…
