I’ve had a few rather late nights of late and, as a result, my face has been looking a little lacklustre – particularly in the eye area. In order to avoid the classic ‘you look tired’ (in other words, really ruddy awful) comments that are often thrown my way, I’ve been paying some serious attention to brightening up my peepers.
First up, I find that an eye gel – in place of a cream – in the morning works wonders in terms of cooling, refreshing and de-puffing the eye area. My personal favourite is the REN Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel which I find does an amazing job of pepping up my peepers when they’re feeling less than fresh.
Next up comes a good concealer and for this category I have two pretty ace options – the Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Concealer, which brightens the eye area and covers up my awful eyebags, and the NARS Creamy Concealer, which is the best option ever when it comes to staying power and coverage. It covers all manner of dark circles and stays put all day long with minimal, if any, creasing.
Moving on, I recommend a nude eyeliner for your waterline which helps to cover up any redness while making your eyes look much bigger and brighter. A double whammy of brightening goodness! My pick of the pack is the Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl Kajal which has great colour payoff and applies super smoothly. Eyeshadow-wise, you want to opt for a lighter colour which will help to open up the eye area and brighten it up. There are some beautiful options out there, from high street to high end products, so something to suit everyone and every budget. In my opinion, it’s great to opt for a champagne or light gold shade with a little bit of shimmer to really give your lids a bit of oomph. The L’Oreal Colour Appeal Eyeshadow in Golden Rose is one of my absolute favourites.
Last but not least I like to put a light champagne shimmer in the inner corners of my eye, again because I think it helps to brighten up the eyes and make them look a bit bigger. For this task, I turn to the KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in Bianco Perlato which is the perfect size for getting right on into the corner of my eye.
Needless to say an extra few hours of sleep would help to treat my tiredness too…
