Being the beauty obsessive that I am, I tend to work my way through a lot of products. I love trying and testing new things, getting to grips with unique formulas and experimenting with a variety of launches and releases. However, while other products may come and go, there are a few bits and pieces in my stash that remain constant in my skincare routine and – whether or not I use them religiously every day – they make up that core collection of ‘old faithfuls’ that I ensure I am never without.

The first of these reliable fall-backs is a product that I am sure you are all well aware of by now – Indeed Labs’ HydraluronThis unique gel-like serum, full to the brim of brilliant moisture-booster hyaluronic acid, is one of the most effective products in my arsenal and is my go-to serum each and every morning. While it continues to provide my skin with a much-needed hydrating oomph, ensuring that my moisturiser goes that extra mile, it will continue to have pride of place in my skincare stash.

Next up, the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer, a moisturising toner which adds a lovely layer of hydration to skin pre-moisturiser and post-exfoliating toner. The spritz is seriously refreshing and leaves me with that ‘aaaaaaaah‘ feeling time after time, plus it smells ruddy lovely. Sadly the same cannot be said for the skin smoothing wonder that is the Garnier 5 Second Perfect Blur. This has been my go-to primer for ruddy ages now and I can’t imagine being without it. The light mousse-like texture feels so silky smooth on skin and it works wonders when it comes to hiding any and all lumps, bumps and imperfections.

The last product is more a category than a product to be honest – I know, I know, I cheat – and it’s one which has long-been a favourite of bloggers, beauty lovers and make up artists alike: micellar water. My skincare selection is never without at least one variety of micellar water thanks to its quick, gentle and uber effective make up removing abilities. I’m currently working my way through my second bottle of L’Oreal Skin Perfection 3-in-1 Purifying Micellar Solutionwhich I picked up at my local Boots. While the Bioderma H2O continues to reign as my top micellar pick, this one does a mighty fine job too and given that it’s a whole heap easier to find – and a wee bit cheaper – I’m happy to stick with this in my stash for now.

What products do you guys count as ‘old faithfuls’? Anything I should consider adding to my reliable line-up?

  1. I swear by Liz Earle! Also the L’oreal skin perfection has been my wonder product in taking off stage make up. A x

  2. I’m so curious to try the hydraluton, how thick/ moisturising is it? I have pretty oily skin and am not sure if it would be suitable for me. Great post! Xxx

    1. Hi there! I have quite oily skin too and suffer with regular breakouts and blemishes but Hydraluron has done nothing but work wonders on my skin. It’s a really thin gel rather than an oil and it sinks into your skin really quickly, leaving no greasy residue or anything. It works under the top layer of your skin, if that makes sense, rather than sitting on top of it like a lot of products do so shouldn’t have aggravate blemishes or anything like that. You may actually find that it helps to combat oiliness in the long run. Hope that helps! x
