Part two of my 2013 beauty favourites, this time covering make up, beauty tools and nails. It’s been a pretty amazing year for beauty and I can’t see what 2014 will bring.

Have an amazing New Year tonight everyone!

Make up

Best primer : : Garnier 5 Second Perfect Blur Primer – I’m a huge primer fan so picking just one favourite was a tricky thing to do. After much deliberation, this bad boy came out on top thanks to its lightweight formula, near-magical ability to blur lines, pores and blemishes and silky smooth finish.

Best foundation : : Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer – incredibly pigmented but easily blendable, the KA Skin Enhancer covers up all manner of lumps, bumps, blemishes and redness, leaving a lovely matte but dewy finish.

Best tinted moisturiser : : Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Tinted Skin Balm – needless to say, KA have kicked booty in the skincare stakes this year and this tinted moisturiser is no exception. Offering slightly more coverage than its similar alternatives, it nourishes skin while helping to cover up any blemishes and bumps.

Best concealer : : NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – I only managed to track down my preferred shade in this concealer a few weeks ago, after a long, long, long search, but have been completely hooked ever since. The creamy formula smooths seamlessly into the skin, hangs around all the live-long day and doesn’t crease. At all. It’s a must-have in my eyes.

Best powder : : Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder – the most superb translucent powder which helps to blur imperfections, highlight the skin and create the most beautiful glow.

Best bronzer : : Bourjois Bronzing Primer – applied pre-foundation, this bronzer helps to add a super subtle and natural tan.

Best blusher : : Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush & MAC Archie’s Girls Pearlmatte Face Powder in Flatter Me – I have three colours of the Tarte blush and the formula never fails to impress. MAC-wise, I can’t get enough of the peachy glow that this Archie’s Girls product helps to create.

Best highlighter : : Soap & Glory Glow All Out Luminizing Face Powder – a beautifully natural glow that gives the perfect boost to the complexion.

Best eyeshadow : : Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24 Hour Eye Shadow in Rose Gold & KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in Golden Brown – both of these eyeshadows have some seriously impressive staying power making them perfect for everyday use.

Best eyeliner : : Charlotte Tilbury Rock n Kohl Eye Pencil in Barbarella Brown – glides on like a dream and hangs around all day. Incredible.

Best mascara : : Ellis Faas Mascara – this gives eyelashes such a natural boost, helping to lift, curl and volumise all in one quick sweep.

Best eyebrow product : : Maybelline Eye Studio Master Brow Liner – I’m not really the most experienced eyebrow aficionado but this does the job beautifully, taming my brows and helping to fill in a few of those gaps.

Best lip balm : : Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm – so thick and nourishing. It protects lips from all the wind and weather, while helping to leave them feeling silky soft. Aaaaah.

Best lipstick : : MAC Plumful and MAC Brick-o-la – both of these lipsticks are just perfect in my eyes. Plumful is a beautiful purply pink which has that ‘your lips but better’ factor, while Brick-o-la is a deep brick orange-y red that’s unlike anything else in my collection.

Best lipgloss : : Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre Lip Lacquer in Blondie – I’m really not a lip gloss fan (the whole hair/sticky lip thing is the worst), but this one is just lovely. No stickiness, beautiful colours and leaves lips with a beautiful lustrous sheen.

Beauty tools

Best brush brand : : Real Techniques – I can’t even explain how superb these brushes are. High quality, brilliant variety and incredible prices. If you don’t have some, get some. Seriously.

Best face brush : : Real Techniques Buffing Brush and Real Techniques Expert Face Brush – couldn’t decide between these bad boys but both are absolutely brilliant when it comes to applying and blending foundation and each leave you with a superbly seamless finish.

Best eye brush : : MAC 217 – a relatively new addition to my stash but boy is it a great one. Blends eyeshadow into the crease like an absolute dream.

Best eyelash curler : : Shu Uemera S Curler – I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to eyelash curlers. Lashes get pulled out, mascara gets blobbed – it’s not pretty. But, thanks to this mini eyelash curler from Shu Uemera (the kings of the curler), all that stress is gawn. If you, like me, struggle with curlers, do give this one a go!

Best fragrance : : YSL Manifesto – such a beautiful scent. Fruity florals meets musky vanilla. Aaaaaaah.

Best base coat : : CND Stickey Base Coat – protects the nail and ensures that the polish stays put for days.

Best top coat : : Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat – yep, that’s right, Seche Vite has been trumped by this immense Nails Inc offering. Glides on quickly and easily and dries within seconds, leaving you with a gel-like finish that remains chip-free for ages.

Best cuticle oil : : Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil – smells like a dream and nourishes cuticles like no other.

Best nail colour : : Leighton Denny Supermodel and Essie Cashmere Bathrobe – I wear a lot of nail polish and there was no way that I was going to be able to pick just one colour for this category. But I managed to narrow it down to two. One (Leighton Denny), a beautiful mink grey brown and the other (Essie), an incredibly subtle shimmery charcoal grey. Both are the bomb.

Best nail effect : : Nails Inc Kensington Church Street Snowflake and Essie Set in Stones – I’ve lost count of the number of times both of these polishes have adorned my nails this year. The Essie polish is just a brilliant chunky glitter option that dazzles and delights every time I use it, while the Nails Inc polish is simply stunning – whether you are feeling festive and snowy or not!

Best nail file : : Sakury Glass Nail File – the Sakury file glides over nails so smoothly without any of the horrible squeakiness that you can sometimes get with the glass files. The curved design makes it so easy to use too.

And if you’ve managed to keep reading for this long – well done! – have a brilliant New Year everyone and thank you for continuing to hang with me. I can’t wait to see what 2014 will bring us all.
