Highlighter is one of those take it or leave it products for a lot of beauty lovers. While they may look pretty and add a certain somethin somethin to your complexion, I know that, for many, they just aren’t worth the faff. Well not so for me.
For the past year, as my make up routine has changed and evolved, highlighter has become a more and more crucial part of my collection. I just can’t get enough of that healthy-lookin’ glow that it gives, along with its ability to emphasize one heck of a cheekbone, if used in the right way.
There are, as you can see from the above, a whole heap of different highlighter options, each tailored to suit different needs. My currently favourites are, without a doubt, the Soap & Glory Glow All Out powder – the incredibly fine formula means it blends effortlessly into skin, leaving a peachy pink sheen that is so pretty – and the Topshop Glow in Polish, which is a super creamy champagne shade that adds the most subtle shimmer to cheek bones and can be doubled up to offer a slick of eyeshadow if needed.
Honourable mention goes to the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish collection, which include a wide variety of shades and formulas to meet all of your highlighter needs. These powders have been around for as long as I can remember and continue to be one of the best in the game.
My lesser-used – but by no means lesser-loved – options include a beautiful offering from Estee Lauder, which is sadly just slightly too orange for my skin unless I’m rocking a natural tan, the Suqq Highlighter and Blush compact, which is possible the most subtle of the bunch and can double up as an all-over finishing powder as well as being used in certain areas to highlight, and Nars Cream Blush in Enchanted which is a peachy pink shade dotted with shimmering gold flecks. Slightly too glittery to use as a blush but it serves perfectly as a highlighter.
What highlighters are you guys loving at the moment? Any others I should be lusting after?
