Autumn1

Autumn2

Can you feel that? The cool autumn chill? It’s on its way people. Like it or not, the summer is slowly drawing to a close and the frostier seasons are right around the corner – as demonstrated by the horrible grey drizzle that drowned most of London yesterday evening.

For me, the changing of the seasons is something of a bittersweet time. For one thing, I’m off on holiday in a couple of weeks – that’s right y’all, first holiday in over 18 months. Cannot. Wait – which means that a part of me is still dreaming of sunshine, beaches and cocktails by the pool; a bit bizarre when it’s pouring with rain outside. But while I’ll be super sad to say goodbye to the summer weather (smug in the knowledge that I’ll be reunited with the sun in just 12 DAYS), I’m actually quite excited for warm layers, knitwear, cosy pub lunches and – even though it’s a hell of a long way off – a part of me is already gearing up for Christmas. Sad I know.

And with the changing of the seasons comes something of a shake up in my make up and skincare routines. More moisture to combat the drying effect that the bitter winds and over-the-top heaters have on my face and body, darker tones, richer reds and all in all a more autumnal colour palette to play with.

Some of the items already in my stash that I’m just itching to whip out in all their winter glory include the Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo in Pomegranate, the amazingly moisturising and all-around skin hero, the NUDE ProGenius Treatment Oil – both of which I’ve used many a time during the summer but feel that they will play a big part in my winter regime – my much-loved Estee Lauder Pure Colour Long Lasting Lipstick in Bitten Fig, Jergens Original Beauty Lotion and a whole heap of dark-toned nail varnishes which have been gathering dust at the back of my polish collection for the past few months.

So, while we may mourn the departure of our summer, may we look forward to all of the amazing things that Autumn has to offer. Here’s to changing leaves, winter warmers and mug upon mug of tea.
