For those of you who don’t know, make up artist Charlotte Tilbury is something of a legend in the beauty world. She counts Kate Moss as one of her best friends, has worked with the likes of Cara Delevingne, Adele – she was the lady behind the singer’s make up for her first Vogue cover – and an endless array of models backstage at every Fashion Week show from here to Milan and back again and now, after two decades of working in the industry, this terribly talented lady has finally launched her own line of make up, much to the delight of beauty lovers the world over.
Needless to say, this woman knows where it’s at when it comes to make up and skincare. Years of working backstage at some of the most high-profile fashion shows in the world, coupled with her one-on-one sessions with some pretty amazing women mean that she has been able to craft a collection that caters to the every need of every make up wearing woman out there. Whether you consider yourself a beauty pro, a make up maven or a complete cosmetics amateur, it’s highly unlikely that you won’t find at least one thing within this brand that catches your eye and has you reaching for your wallet.
The idea behind the collection is that it makes beauty accessible for everyone. You can shop the products in a number of ways – either by selecting one (or three, or five, or all!) of ten ‘looks’ created by Charlotte and choosing the corresponding products to create it yourself at home, or by selecting individual products to meet your own make up needs. And even then, you have a helping hand in the form of some handy instructions. For example, the eye shadow pencils are targeted at specific eye colours and offer options for both night and day. So clever.
As you can see from the above there were plenty of pieces within the collection that caught my eye and I’m already lusting after a few more – namely, the Quick Fine Line Shodō Pen – Japanese calligraphy that has been crafted into a liquid eyeliner to create the perfect feline flick – Full Fat Lashes Mascara – apparently the ‘best. thing. ever’ according to the salesgirl and the much-hyped Charlotte’s Magic Cream – which apparently has the power to treat, cure, soothe and smooth any and all skin complaints and has graced the skin of nearly every model that Charlotte has ever worked on. If it’s good enough for the supermodels, it’s good enough for me, y’know?!
For now though, I’m going to at least attempt to show some self-restraint and enjoy getting to know the above products inside and out. While I haven’t had a chance to put them all to the test just yet, I wanted to give you guys a glimpse at the collection so you could see what it was about and I’ll be sure to follow up with some more in-depth reviews a bit later on. At first glance though, I can tell y’all that the quality is pretty darn spectacular and each and every one of the pieces has thus far been a joy to use, particularly the eye palette which includes a brilliant Prime, Enhance, Smoke and Pop guide.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to play with my new products (available online at Selfridges, Net-a-Porter and CharlotteTilbury.com for those who want a closer look!). Keep an eye out for updates y’all…
