I’m the first to admit I’m not the healthiest person when it comes to food. I’m not a huge fan of vegetables, I don’t drink nearly enough water and I eat way too many takeaways *thoughtfully chews on pizza slice*

Perhaps unsurprisingly, these rather unhealthy lifestyle choices coupled with a six-day working week and a lot of late nights has started to take its toll on my general health. My skin is looking seriously lacklustre and blemish-ridden and I’m really low on energy. Needless to say, something had to give.

Now, I should point out that I am well aware vitamins and supplements do not in any way make up for all of the aforementioned unhealthiness, however I have aimed to select the supplements which would give my body the biggest boost in terms of sorting out all of my ailments and wanted to share my thoughts on them with you all in case you were wondering which ones might work for you.

So, first up comes Fish Oil. Rich in Omega 3, this supplement is an all-round wonder and helps to aid the body and the mind, leaving your brain feeling a bit sharper, your hair a whole heck softer and stronger, your nails tougher and your skin clearer and more moisturised. Sound too good to be true? It’s not! Available in a number of different doses, I’m currently mixing 1500mg of pure fish oil with 500mg of fish oil with added Zinc. So why the zinc? Well, this bad boy boosts the immune system, helping to aid the body’s natural healing processes while ensuring you’re able to fight off any nasties that come your way. Delightful.

Moving on to Vitamin D. Now while we’ve been having a much fairer summer season that I think any of us imagined, this country is still not the best when it comes to serious sunshine. Now y’all know how eager I am about SPF, but a little sun – and a little Vitamin D – goes a long way when it comes to keeping yourself healthy and happy. So, in the absence of hours spent lazing in the sunshine I opted to add some of the sun’s beaming rays in a bottle to my routine. 

Last but not least, we have a daily dose of Berocca which is essentially a multi-vitamin high in Vitamin C and Vitamin B. While many people opt for the effervescing option when it comes to this particular brand, I’m not into that luminous orange liquid and instead choose the film-coated tablets. One every morning alongside my other supplements – with a large pint of water I might add! – and I’m ready to take on the day. Even if I do rattle slightly when I walk around…

    Good words of advice here Charlie but don’t forget the importance of vit.D in Calcium uptake. Good skin is one thing but having strong bones to hang it on is really important too!
