Blur3* garnier 5 second perfect blur £12.99 *

Hello my name is Charlie and I am a primer addict. Seriously. In my ever-so-humble opinion, the secret to the perfect beauty routine is a solid foundation – as in a good grounding, rather than the make-up product in this instance! – to hold the whole look together and ensure that all that hard beauty work isn’t sliding off your face less than five minutes after application.

Well say hello the latest addition to my ever-expanding primer collection, the Garnier 5 Second Perfect Blur, a lightweight, fast-acting priming product that promises to smooth skin, eradicate wrinkles and decrease shine, all for the bargain price of just £12.99. Sounds like a winner to me.

First things first, the application of this product is utterly dreamy – that’s right, dreamy. The formula is like a feather-light mousse that blends effortlessly into skin without any effort, blurring imperfections as it goes. So far so good. Just the smallest bit of product is needed to cover the face – a 5p sized blob should do it depending on personal preference of course – but do beware as too much of this primer and you’re left with an ever-so-slightly greasy-feeling silicone-like residue. Fine and dandy if that feeling doesn’t bother you in the slightest, but if you’re not a fan of that kind of effect, do make sure you use the product sparingly.

In terms of staying power, I found my make-up was much more durable with this as its base and stuck around all the live long day. Over the past few days I’ve actually been following this bad boy with a quick application of my Murad Skin Perfecting Primer to give my complexion a healthy-looking glow. So lightweight and airy is the Garnier product, that applying a second priming layer doesn’t leave skin feeling too saturated or over-worked.

Despite its cheap and cheery price tag, this drugstore dream really does have a lot to offer and is putting up a pretty impressive fight against its higher end – and higher priced! – alternatives. The lightweight formula make it perfect for the sunnier seasons when you don’t want anything heavy blocking your pores and clogging your face and its hefty staying power makes it perfect for any gals on the go.
