I’ve been using the same foundation and concealer combination for a while now – my ever-faithful La Roche-Posay Toleriane Teint and my Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection – and have only really realised that I’d fallen into something of a face base rut.
While I’m still a big fan of both products, I’ve been finding the liquid foundation formula a bit tacky on my blemish-prone skin in recent weeks and have eagerly been searching for something slightly more suitable while my skin is acting up.
Enter the new Clinique Even Better Compact Foundation. Now some of you may remember this product from a few years ago, when it was originally released.
It was, at the time, my absolute favourite product, providing lightweight, yet durable, coverage, tackling ever lump, bump and blemish that you could ever hope to conceal in one quick and easy application. So imagine my disappointment when the lovely people at Clinique decided to discontinue the product. A beauty nightmare of epic proportions.
But, happy days, it’s back again and – according to Clinique – it’s bigger and better than ever before. Can I get a woop woop?! Despite having only been back in my beauty bag for a few weeks, it’s already become a firm favourite once again and I’m feeling the lighter formula foundation for these warmer spring days.
While on my spur-of-the-moment Boots trip, I had hoped to re-stock my supply of Collection 2000 concealer but sadly, they had completely sold out of all but the darkest colour – not going to work with my pasty pale skin unfortunately. So, instead I opted for an alternative, plumping instead for the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, a lightweight foundation that promises to give skin a brightening boost.
Formula-wise it’s a bit more lightweight than the Collection 2000 concealer but blends really well and offers medium coverage. I’m mostly using this under my eyes and sticking with my Lasting Perfection to tackle the blemishes.
So, there you have it. Some new additions to the beauty stash – just in time for Spring!
