Given how many products I ramble on about on a monthly – heck, on a weekly – basis, I thought it might be fun/helpful/interesting/all of the above to share with you all the tip top selection of products that have been my firm favourites over the past 30 odd days.
Thinking logically, we’ll start with the basics; the horrendous weather over the past few weeks has been wreaking havoc on my skin. My usually-oily complexion has been plagued by dry patches, sensitive spots and blotchy discolouration, all because of a bit of frosty wind and wet weather. In these troubled times, the Estée Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator has been my ultimate skincare saviour, helping to soothe my aching skin, while brightening and boosting my complexion.
Applied twice a day (in the evenings I mix a bit of this product with a couple of drops of the NUDE ProGenius Treatment Oil – the perfect treat for troubled skin), this serum has helped to tackle all manner of issues from dryness to blemish scars and blotchy patches.
And for all of those lumps, bumps and blemishes not sorted by the Idealist serum, I turn to my current favourite foundation, the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Teint in 11 light beige. This lightweight formula blends like a dream (for this I plump for my Real Techniques Buffing Brush) and covers any blemishes or marks on my face without feeling heavy on the skin. The shade is perfect for my skintone and the formula keeps my complexion looking dewy without any shine.
The final complexion booster of the month is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 24-Hour Blush in Blissful, an beautiful pink-peach blush that gives cheeks the perfect pop of colour, creating a healthy glow without looking over the top. The formula applies easily with great colour pay-off and the product hangs around on my cheeks all the live long day ensuring a healthy and happy complexion that lasts as long as I do!
Eye-wise, the Maybelline 24-Hour Color Tattoo in Pink Gold has been my go-to eyeshadow of choice. I love the shade and the formula applies brilliantly, doesn’t crease and has great staying power. Not much more you can ask for really!
As you all know, my love affair with the Real Techniques brushes is pretty serious stuff and this most recent addition to my collection is no exception. The Powder Brush is a large super soft brush that I use for applying setting powder (currently the bareMinerals Original powder) and a bit of all-over-the-face bronzer action. The brush is big enough to ensure even application and the bristles are packed perfectly to pick up the ideal amount of powder.
The last two products are surprise hits. The first is a bold but brilliant lip colour, the Estée Lauder Pure Colour Long Lasting Lipstick in Plum Couture, a deep dark purply plum colour that adds the perfect dash of gothic to any look. Not my usual style I have to admit, but I really do enjoy the darker look that this lipstick creates and have found myself reaching for it more and more when I head out in the evening.
Last but not least is a new favourite fragrance, Diptyque Eau Duelle, a spicy, exotic scent that lingers throughout the day, leaving my skin smelling of sweet but spicy vanilla throughout the day. An amazingly unique fragrance that has received more than its fair share of compliments from admiring noses.
So, that’s the lot for this month. What are your thoughts on any of the products? Are any of these favourites for you?
