caps onAfter many tests and trials, I’ve finally found a beauty product base that I’m really and truly happy with. With the weather still feeling particularly frosty, I’m sticking with products that nourish, protect and care for my skin, while creating the perfect base for the rest of my make-up.

Starting off with the newest addition to my beauty routine, the Estée Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator. Bought in an attempt to combat my persistently blotchy skin, while also tackling my blemish scarring, the benefits of this super skin serum are already evident after just a few weeks. I tend to rub just a few drops into my skin prior to moisturising day and night and my skin is left feeling smoother, softer and far healthier than ever before. Perfect for perking up skin pre make-up application.

Next up, the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo, potentially one of the most hyped-up beauty products of the past six months. An amazingly quick and effective blemish treatment, the Effaclar Duo regulates spot-causing sebum in the skin, while also helping to reduce redness and blitz any blemishes, perfect to treat any pesky problem areas. Depending on how my skin is looking and behaving, I tend to use this product twice a day, both in the morning and evening straight after my moisturiser, happy in the knowledge that it will help me to beat the blemishes over and over again.

Primer-wise, the product that I’ve been reaching for again and again is the Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch. I’ve raved and raved about this bad boy before so won’t bore you all again; suffice to say its skin smoothing qualities make my day-to-day make-up application so much easier, with far more flawless results. Winner winner…

On to the foundation base and for this I’m currently favouring a combination of two of my favourite products – the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Teint in 11 light beige and the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Tinted Balm – to create the perfect coverage. The thick formula of the Skin Tinted Balm nourishes and protects skin throughout the day – the ideal product to help skin resist the harsh winter winds – while the Toleriane Teint provides added coverage and the perfect blendable formula. Applied with my much-loved Real Techniques Buffing Brush this delightful duo has been my most favoured foundation in the past few weeks.

Last but not least, two quick fixes to cover up any remaining blemishes and dark marks and leave the finished face with a healthy, dewy finish. My concealer of choice may come as no surprise – the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer, yet another much-loved, much-hyped about wonderproduct that gives incredible lasting coverage (in case you hadn’t already guessed from the name) at a ridiculously low price.

Finally, to finish off the look, I turn to the bareMinerals Original Foundation, a long-time favourite and a brilliantly reliable, effective finishing powder that leaves skin looking matte yet still with a beautiful dewy glow. Polish the whole thing off with a slick of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream on the lips and we’re good to go.

So, there you have it, my current face favourites. What are your favourite products at the moment? Any gems you can recommend that I might have missed?
