bareMinerals has long been one of my favourite beauty brands, although I have never thought to venture beyond their basic mineral foundations, sheer powders and bronzers. So when I caught sight of this amazingly colourful collection, bareMinerals’ offering for Spring 2013, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to give some of their other beauty products a whirl.

Due for release in February, the Remix range is a collection of bold, bright colours and exciting new shades all packaged up in the most amazing turquoise casing (not that I let that sway my thoughts on the products of course!). In addition to the products that I’ve had a look at, they are also releasing a radiance-boosting face powder, a bronzing finishing powder and a waterproof eyeliner.

Fingers crossed I can get my hands on those too because the items that I did get a chance to test are, on the whole, quite brilliant.

Starting with the Ready Eyeshadow in The Next Big Thing, my favourite product from the collection, which is an eyeshadow palette made up of four shades: two matte (a purply brown and an orangey peach) and two shimmer (a bright gold and a shimmering champagne). Surprisingly I’m not a huge eyeshadow fan usually, but I really can see myself using all four shades in this palette. Each gives good colour pay-off and apply easily without creasing. They don’t last as long as some other shadows that I’ve tried but all in all are pretty reliable!

The second palette is a peachy pink blush tinted with a gold shimmer. The Ready Blush gives a natural peachy glow, although I found the colour to be incredibly faint; to me it seems more like a highlighter than a blush and I think I would probably use it in addition to a more matte blusher in order to add a shimmery glow.

Next up, the Loud & Clear Lip Sheer, which is a berry tinted sheer lip balm, helping to keep lips amazingly moisturised while also giving a deep berry tint. While I found the colour to fade quite quickly, a faint stain remained for a few hours and my lips felt superbly soft throughout the day. The product applies with incredible ease, the gel-based formula ensuring it glides on beautifully, and is also scented with a sweet orange smell making it all the more appealing! Not one for those looking for dramatic colour but a good everyday product nevertheless.

The final product in my bareMinerals collection is the Flawless Definition Mascara in Aqua Blast, a rather unique mascara in a bright shade of turquoise. I remember having something like this back in the days of clear mascara and glitter body gel and was pleasantly surprised to find it in this collection. In case you hadn’t already noticed, I’m a huge fan of turquoise eye make up so I couldn’t wait to give this old favourite a go and see whether it would work in amongst my more mature make up collection.

Sadly I’m not so sure this is one that is going to work for me… Due to my pathetically short and thin eyelashes, the colour doesn’t really show up in them, making it pretty ineffective. Sob.

Perhaps someone out there with a more healthy set of lashes might want to give this a go – do let me know how you get on too!

All in all, I’m really excited by this whole collection and am eager to try out the other products that I haven’t yet tested. Aside from the mascara, which does also come in black, I can see myself using each of these products regularly and they are sure to make very useful additions to my already-bursting make-up collection!

What do you guys think? See anything you like the look of…?

Oooh it all looks lovely! If you apply your usual mascara and wait for it to dry a bit, then you can add the turquoise-y one to the tips of your mascara-elongated lashes 🙂
